Seeking Treatment in Singapore

Cancer Treatment

Singapore is one of the top destinations in the world for cancer treatment.  In Singapore, patients get access to top physicians as well as the newest medicine and treatment for cancer.

Singapore is a leading academic cancer centre, actively involved in clinical research for cancer treatment. Both investigator-initiated trials (IITs) and international trials which give patients access to new cutting-edge therapies are being conducted in Singapore. As a patient seeking treatment in Singapore, you may get to participate in a clinical trial at the National Cancer Centre. If there is a trial that is suitable for you, our physician will be able to refer you to the appropriate clinical investigator responsible for that study.

The clinical investigator will discuss with you what participation in the trial entails and provide any details to help you make an informed decision

Fertility Treatment

Singapore offers a wide range of fertility treatments

    • Ovulation Induction (OI)

    • Artificial Insemination (IUI)

    • IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilsation)

    • ICSI Treatment (Intracytoplasmic Sperm injection)

    • Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)

If you or your partner carries the risk of inherited conditions, such as birth defects or genetic disorders, you may decide to undertake some genetic testing as part of your fertility treatment program.  Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) and other genetic testing procedure can provide the information and support you need to make these decisions.

For those who are concerned about any of the following issues, PGD may give you peace of mind – and help us select an unaffected embryo for transfer.

  • Risk of your baby inheriting a known genetic condition

  • Known family history of chromosome rearrangement in your or your partner

  • Chromosomal abnormality in a previous pregnancy

  • Advanced maternal age (usually to test for Down syndrome if the mother is over 38 years old)

  • Recurrent miscarriage

  • Repeated unsuccessful embryo transfers

Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis or PGD is a highly sophisticated technique that tests embryos for a specific genetic or chromosomal abnormality. It allows the selection of embryos that are not affected with the condition being tested for, prior to implantation and pregnancy.

PGD is offered in conjunction with an IVF cycle.
